Sunny Days, iPads, Apple TVs, and Lagniappe at AEP

A.E. Phillips 2nd graders in Miss Haley Hay's classroom completed scientific observations outdoors under the facilitation of elementary practicum teacher candidates Jessica McMillan and Jennifer Moreland. Students concluded that Ruston, Louisiana, was sunny today. Through 2014 grant funding from Louisiana Tech's Lagniappe Ladies, iPads and Apple TVs were used to further develop the lesson, and Miss McMillan motivated the class in her "weather-related wardrobes." This is just one of many great lessons being taught on campus through our school/university partnership with outstanding clinical school faculty serving as mentors under the direction of A.E. Phillips Laboratory Director Dr. JoAnn Hood and elementary practicum coordinator, Dr. Amy Vessel. In a typical year, almost fifty teacher candidates are placed at AEP to meet clinical requirements in reading, mathematics, science, and social studies practica.
